I'm always torn between just writing about me or writing my artist's statement. My artist's statement tells you about what I do and a little about my process, but about me as an artist, it leaves a little to be desired. My previous version of this website was up for an entire year and I realized not one place on the site had my name! So here's a blend of the statement and the profile, a little about me and a little about what I do and why I do it.

Giesla Hoelscher is a digital artist who resides in Saint Paul, MN. She has a love for old signage and vintage anything as well as a passion for learning more about where she lives. This love for her surroundings combined with her enjoyment of Photoshop and graphic design are expressed through collages in which she created depth and interest by blending and layering original digital photographs. Her hope is to capture the memories, stories and emotions that these places and events evoke in those who also love where they live or once lived.

Along with the location collages, Giesla also explores personal feelings in painterly collages. Recently, she's become more interested in traditional collage and adding traditional art techniques to her digital collages such as stamping, painting and encaustic.

I think my writing always reveals more about me than anything, so to find out more, take a look at my blog!
